March Through May
During this time of year, the average temperature is about 60 degrees. While this isn’t the hot and sunny beach weather you may want, it’s a great time to see the flowers and herbs come alive. Sit at an outdoor cafe without getting too hot and enjoy the cool breeze as you sightsee. This is still considered the low season, so you won’t be bothered with tourist crowds and astronomical prices. There are quite a few festivals going on during these months too. Visit in May for the Pollenca Wine Fair, in March for the Day of The Balearic Islands, and in April for Semana Santa (The Holy Week.)
January Through February
If you’re a super budget traveler and want to score some deals, this is when to visit. The temperatures are in the 50s and 60s, so your time won’t be spent on the beach. However, if you enjoy touring the museums and historic buildings, these months will show you a good time. Since it is the low season, there will be cheap prices on hotels and activities so you can do more for your money. Visit in February for the Sa Rua (carnival parades) or in January for Sant Sebastia festival, one of the largest in Palma.
October Through December
Those who hate the heat but love cheap prices should visit during these fall months. The temperatures range from the 50s to the 70s, with more rain than other months. While the skies are often overcast, the prices are low and the crowds are minimal. It’s another great time of year to explore the indoor activities like museums and historic buildings. Visit in November to experience one of the largest, traditional festivals on the island, Dijous Bo.
This time of the year is when tourist season is at its peak. The weather is the best, with warm temperatures that can get up to 100 degrees. While it can be extremely hot, this is the best time to lounge on the beach, go for tapas or take a dip in the sea. Visitors flock to the seaside resorts, cocktail bars, and seafood restaurants during this time of year. Prices are high and there are large crowds, however, this is when Palma really comes alive. The summer months are when most of the festivals take place too. Visit in August for the Pollenca Music Festival, or for the Chopin International Festival. Come in July for the Carmen Festival, a celebration of local fisherman and crafts. And, stop by in June for Nit del Foc, one of the largest parties on the island.
The best time to visit Palma isn’t just when the tourist season is at its peak. All year, Palma is a beautiful and interesting destination for travelers. The best time to visit depends on the kind of trip you’re looking for. No matter when you arrive, Palma has something that will delight you. You can book your taxi from Palma de Mallorca Airport here.
