Vai beach in Lassithi
On the northeastern side of Crete, in the region Lassithi, is a beautiful beach called Vai. This beach is surrounded by 5 000 palm trees, which makes it the largest palm tree forest in Europe. The beach is close to the city of Sitia. During high season thousands of visitors come to see the palm trees which makes it very crowded in high season. The beach has soft sand and beautiful crystal water.
Balos beach in Chania
Balos beach is a beautiful wide beach in the north-west of Crete in the region Chania. This amazing beach looks like the Carribean with its white sand beaches and light blue water. Besides that, the beach also has a huge island next to it with a Venetia Castle on top. The island can be reached by car via a track road from Kissamos or by excursion boat from Chania Town and Kissamos, the road is about 10 km.
Voulisma Beach Lassithi
Voulisma beach can be found close to Agios Nikolaos. The beach is located in a lush valley full of olive trees and springs, which has been developed during the last decades. This beach is also known as the Golden beach with white sand and amazing turquoise water. To guarantee a nice place at the beach it is recommended to be there early because in high season the beach can be quite crowded.
Preveli beach in Rethymno
On the southern side of the prefecture of Rethymno is a place of great beauty, Preveli. This beach is actually a place where the river flows into the sea, passing through many palm trees and forming a lake close to the sea which creates a delta. At this beach a great variety of sports are available. But it also is a wonderful place to swim. There are palm trees surrounding the beach.
Plakias beach in Rethymno
Plakias beach is a lovely tourist place on the southern side of Rethymno, Crete island. This village on the seaside of Crete has many tourist facilities and a calm environment away from the chaotic world. Next, to the village, there is a large and sandy beach with clear water. Part of the beach is provided with sunbeds and umbrellas, and the other half of the beach is free of anything. At the beach are also some original Greek taverns to enjoy nice food while at the beach.
